Welcome to the Wilburton Beer Festival Website!
|
We are pleased to announce that the 11th Wilburton Beer Festival will be held on the weekend of the 20th and 21st June 2009.
We are busy planning this years festival - and hoping to build on the success of last year with the Sponsor a Barrel, the huge popularity of the local cider, and the excellent live bands. As before, the festival will include entertainment for children, a kids bar, food and live music throughout. And hopefully some sun this year! DogsOne of the most common questions we are asked is "Are we allowed to bring a dog?" - the answer to that is no - the festival is held on the recreation ground, and dogs are not allowed on there.Last YearThe 10th Wilburton Beer Festival was another great success! We would like to thank everyone who came along to support the beer festival this year, and helped up to raise £4000 for our chosen charities and organisations.Last year we donated money to Haddenham Scouts, EACH (Milton Hospice), Wilburton Baptist Chapel, Wilburton Youth Group, Wilburton Community Archive, WSA, Wilburton Theatre Group, HEART, Humpty's Pre-School, Wilburton Toddler Group and MAGPAS. We would also like to thank all the companies who sponsored barrels and the glasses at the beer festival - helping us offset increasing costs and enabling us to donate more money in 2008. See our Sponsor a Barrel page for more details. The Wilburton Beer Festival is run by volunteers, and is held annually to raise money for organisations, events and projects within the village and local area. Since 1998, we have raised well over £35,000 for these organisations. The organisers and helpers at the Festival give up their time to arrange and stage this event, so come along and support them and local charities by having a beer or two!
Since 2006, we have also supported a few larger local campaigns - including EACH (the Milton Hospice), and Liam Fairhurst and his Liam's Mile campaign in association with STAR FM. Mark Peters of STAR FM and Liam opened the 2007 beer festival on Saturday afternoon, and Mark was back again in 2008.
Between 2006 and 2008, we have raised over £10,000! (Our thoughts go to the family and friends of Liam, who sadly passed away on the 30th June 2009)
