2006 - The Milton Hospice
In 2006 we decided to raise money for the
Milton Hospice. East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH) operate three hospices in this region for terminally ill children - including the one at Milton - as well as providing community-based case and support. The hospices are vibrant places offering fun, friendship, laughter and care; places of refuge where children and parents can find peace of mind, help and encouragement in the midst of their anxiety.
The high standard of care offered by EACH requires funding - and they only receive 10% of their annual income from the government, so rely almost entirely on voluntary donations and fundraising in order to help local children and their families make the most of their precious time together.
Example costs of care include:
- 1 session of Assisted Play with an EACH Play Activities Co-ordinator - £15
- 1 hour of Respite Care for 1 child at an EACH Hospice - £29
- 2 hours of Community Palliative Care for a life-limited child - £56
- 1 session of Music Therapy - £77
- 3 hours of Family Support for a child and their family - £90
In 2005 the Wilburton Beer Festival donated £400 to the Hospice - and in 2006 we achieved our goal of donating £4000!
If you are interested in making a donation or helping EACH with fundraising, then contact them through their
website - or talk to their staff and volunteers at the beer festival. There are many ways in which you can help - including:
- Making a regular or one-off donation (including secure donations through the website)
- Buying or requesting a Gift of Care - an alternative to a Birthday, Anniversary, Wedding or Christmas presents
- Organise a fundraising event
- Joining or setting up a local EACH Friends Support Group
- Helping EACH with a collection in the street or supermarket
- Become an EACH Key Supporter
- Become an EACH Volunteer
- Recycle printer catridges and mobile phones
- Join the EACH lottery
- Buy EACH Christmas cards or merchandise
- Remember EACH in your will
- Save stamps and foreign/obsolete coins
