The following tables show both the increase in the number of houses from 2002-2017 and the population growth (estimates) used by Cambridgeshire County Council for the region from the 2011 census to 2013.
Wilburton appears high up in both cases - showing that the village has grown at a reasonable rate over the years. During that time there has been very little increase in local employment, so this leads to increased "out commuting" - an issue found throughout East Cambridgeshire - and does little to benefit the village itself.
Stretham appears much lower down the list, despite being classed as a large village and being on a direct, regular bus route to Cambridge.
This table shows the growth in housing numbers for towns and villages in East Cambs from 2002-2017. Click on the column headings to re-order the data. Sorting by Total shows Wilburton in the top section - with 86 houses - with typical growth being infill and small developments in keeping with the village. Note Stretham has only had 5 houses built during that time.
